In 2011, IFP School, with the support of the Tuck Foundation and their industrial partners, created a new chair entitled "Economic modeling applied to energy and the environment".
This chair addresses the issue of the economic development of new energy pathways, particularly the development of bio-fuels, the use of bio-energy and other alternative energy sources and the functioning of energy markets.
IFP School thus anticipates the skills needed in the field of economics of sustainable development, environment and energy.

Holder of the Chair
The chair ʺEconomic modeling applied to energy and the environmentʺ is held by Frédéric Lantz
Mr. Lantz has a DEA in Econometrics and Mathematical economics (1982) and a PhD in Economics (1984) – Université de Paris X-Nanterre. He has also received accreditation to supervise research (2004).
He joined IFP School in 1991 after a first experience in research in the field of econometrics and bio-economic modeling at Ifremer, where he was part of the North Sea Working Group for the European Commission. At IFP School he teaches statistical methods in econometrics and operational research for energy and the environment.
